Alexis Navarro

Alexis has been associated with the Department of Architecture as an alumnus, adjunct faculty and tenured professor during the past 22 years. Alexis transferred from ELAC to Cal Poly Pomona, B. Arch Degree and then returned after fifteen years of practice to UCLA for the M. Arch Degree. Alexis has worked with a number of high-profile firms and projects throughout Los Angeles both as a designer and project manager. Amongst these include The Getty Center with Richard Meier and Partners and the Museum of Tolerance with Zimmerman Architects and Planners. Alexis has also been an adjunct faculty at Woodbury University and Art Center College of Design. At ELAC, Alexis has primarily concentrated on the development of the design curriculum and numerous initiatives to contribute to the overall development and growth of the program.
Alexis has also been active in design-build of single-family residences and ADU design thru his company, ANDesign, www.alexisnavarro.design The intent of his work is to build low-cost, affordable single-family homes that seek to provide practical solutions and innovative design that intelligently responds to the local environment and social-economic conditions.
On the personal side, Alexis has always kept the guitar very close playing classical and flamenco guitar for many years. Along with his wife, they try to keep up with their son’s passion for the cello, accordion, and competitive Irish dance competitions. Spending considerable time traveling to his cello concerts, dance competitions and a multitude of activities that a young and curious boy can be so passionate about.
